A090814 If you ever see this, please contact me A.S.A.P. In general, anytime you see a pop-up window asking you to download something to fix a problem, you can be nearly certain it is bogus.

MALWARE --Blue Screen of Death Scareware A new scareware variant exploits the pit-of-the-stomach feeling that accompanies the Windows Blue Screen of Death. The malware displays what appears to be the blue screen indicative of a Windows system crash along with an alert window urging users to download software to fix the alleged problem. The phony antivirus package is called SystemSecurity.

090803 A critical vulnerability exists in the current versions of Flash Player (v9.0.159.0 and v10.0.22.87) for Windows, Macintosh, Linux and Solaris operating systems, and the authplay.dll component that ships with Adobe Reader and Acrobat v9.x for Windows, Macintosh and UNIX operating systems. This vulnerability (CVE-2009-1862) could cause a crash and potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system. There are reports that this vulnerability is being actively exploited in the wild via limited, targeted attacks against Adobe Reader v9 on Windows. Adobe has released product updates to Adobe Reader, Acrobat and Flash Player to resolve the relevant security issues. For more information, please refer to Security Bulletin APSB09-10.
